Water runs, bodies lean, loose things gather somewhere below – in a refusal to stay level. A direction quietly enters the ground. Rain finds the lowest point and a foot searches for friction. Slopes make strange arrangements: what is above can slip down, what seems solid can slowly give way. They erode, collapse, flood and change course; not keeping the order they produce. A slight tilt can turn a resting place into a passage, a surface into a current. Slope is the estuary.
