Plam Town (2020)
Rug game and playbook
Goa Open Arts Festival 2020
Plam town is located on the outskirts of Pulse city.
It is a multiplayer board game. The players take up roles of eight different inhabitants of the town <maximum eight inhabitants, minimum three required to play>. The objective of the game is to reach the satisfying meal of fish thali at the centre of the rug. What is involved in the journey is a mix of chance and strategy, dealing and convincing, making beliefs and rules, using each inhabitant’s characteristic power to forage the necessary ingredients to prepare the thali. Each time the game is a set of different combinations of factors that affect the game. The Believer’s belief and the Third Party’s all-abiding-rule – are the open points in the structure which the players make for themselves in the beginning of the game. The Third Party’s rule has to balance the Believer’s most obnoxious belief to keep things toe to toe.
